WELCOME TO BUNGALOW BALIHAI

This charming bungalow completed an entire renovation; the results are amazing. It is ideally located in a large, beautiful, tropical gated yard with a view of Mount Turi; the highest peak. It’s just 100 meters from Huahine’s best white-sand beaches and turquoise lagoon; the perfect spot for ocean fun; snorkelling, swimming, kayaking, more. Fare, the main and only town, is just a quick beach walk, with Huahine’s restaurants, equipment rental, large super market and outdoor market.

This charming bungalow was recently transformed with an entire renovation and newly furnished; the results are amazing. You’ll truly feel on vacation in this Tahitian fare. The bedroom is very comfortable with a double sized bed, screened windows, loads of closet space, Tahitian lamps, a ceiling fan and comfy, clean linens. The living area has a daybed for relaxing or sleeping for one, with two large sliding doors with curtains for privacy.

The kitchen is equipped with your basic needs to cook; stove top with gas included, good-sized refrigerator, and stunning local-style wooden countertops, where you can sit, enjoy a meal, a cup of tea and enjoy the serene surroundings.

The bungalow’s front wall is almost completely glassed so you can enjoy all the views of the beautiful gardens, but with privacy, as the grounds are completely fenced. The black-stoned, outdoor hot shower is fantastic, totally private and curtained.

To truly enjoy your surroundings; there is a very large, wooden deck surrounding half of the house. Here you can appreciate the outdoors at the dining table, read, enjoy a tropical cocktail or take a nap on the hammock. This is also the ideal place for practicing yoga, meditation or exercise. There are two bicycles provided for town or beach use; not for island touring.

ABOUT THE ISLAND

Bungalow Balihai is located on the island of Huahine in French Polynesia / Tahiti. It’s a quiet tropical paradise in the heart of the South Pacific Ocean as part of the Society group of islands. It is a territory of France and Huahine itself has approx. 6500 residents. Bungalow Balihai is located on the north west of the island and is just metres from pristine beaches.

GETTING HERE

FROM AUSTRALIA: Air Tahiti Nui and Qantas fly from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia via Auckland.
Air New Zealand also has flights from all Australia’s major cities including Perth. These flights are all via Auckland.

FROM NEW ZEALAND: Flights from Auckland to Papeete are approx. 5 hours

ISLAND TRANSFER: To reach Bungalow Balihai you will need to take an island transfer flight from Papeete to Huahine which is approx. 40 minutes. Our manager will be there at the airport in Huahine to pick you up and take you to your accommodation at Bungalow Balihai via the supermarket so you can get your basic supplies if you wish.

COSTS

The cost of flying from the east coast of Australia all the way to Bungalow Bali Hai starts from $1,500AUD.
($1,100.00 for the international fare and $400 for the island transfer.)

Currency on the island is Pacific Franc (approx. 108 Pacific Franc = 1 US dollar). Some places accept US dollar but they are limited.

GETTING AROUND

We provide bicycles for cruising around the island, going to the shops or the beach. The island of Huahine is 75 square Kilometres. If you wish to explore more widely we recommend you rent a car for the day starting from $70US. We recommend Europe Car located just up the road from Bungalow Balihai.

THE LOCALS

The local people are very friendly and accommodating but don’t have strong English. French and Tahitian are the main languages spoken by the locals.

Surfing on the Island has its rules and the local surfers don’t like cameras in the line up or groups of surfers taking their waves. We must follow the Island rules and we only accept one surfer per group.

WHERE TO EAT

There are several little restaurants set up on caravans throughout the town but only a handful are recommended. Our manager will show you which ones are the best on request. We have a recommended burger store called Izzy’s just in front of our private road. It is also the recommended location for coffee, it is the best on the Island.

The Yacht Club is a great place for a drink at sunset time and dinner from 6pm onwards.

If you feel like being a little indulgent, you can have drinks and beautiful food right next door at the Maitai Lapita Village Hotel.

SUPERMARKET

The supermarket is a 5 minute bike ride from Bungalow Balihai and it has everything you may need. It opens everyday except Sunday afternoons. We have a good pharmacy just up the road, a Post Office and a few ATMs all within walking distance.

There is a medical centre close by but there are no hospitals on the Island and travel insurance is highly recommended.

WIFI

Wifi is available on site.

DRINKING WATER

It’s best to drink bottled water or coconuts.
